Colorism has and still is an issue within the black community. I've dealt with colorism back in junior and HS. As I became an adult, the less I directly dealt with it or was confronted by it. Not to say I haven’t or pretend like it didn’t exist, however, more or less it didn’t bother me because I learned to appreciate, embraced being dark skin and it’s beauty. However, a big issue is women of color are affected the most by it based on media and society standards despite society secretly worshipping a woman of color. About 2 months ago, a friend sent me a link to this wonderful woman of color who discusses the issues with women of color and colorism. Based on her Youtube Videos and inspiration, I decided to created Afrotisity to celebrate and uplift people of color. Hopefully, this photo series will inspire someone of color as well.
